Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas Everybody!!

Pelham’s Doggy Day Care

This service has been very well received in 2011. However, I am afraid I am going to have to enforce the penalty charge of 5 euros per half hour for late pickups as too many people are not collecting their dogs until much later than our closing time of 5.30 p.m.

The cost of this service will be 8 euros per day in 2012. Pickups 1 minute after 5.30 will be charged an extra 5 euros per half hour.

DOG PARK OPENING HOURS FOR CHRISTMAS AND 2012

• Monday – Friday 7.00 a.m. – 5.30 p.m.
• Saturday – Sunday 12.00 – 5.30 p.m.
• Sunday 25th December – closed
• Monday 26th December – closed
• Sunday 1st January – closed
• Monday 2nd January – closed

KIOSK NOW OPEN

The Food kiosk is now open for hot and cold beverages, burgers and various other snacks.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS

Can I please ask all those whose memberships have expired to please come and renew asap.

TRAINING CLASSES:

Classes start again on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 21st January. Please come along to sign up as soon as possible.

All those interested in whistle work or Agility please let me know.

2012 PRICES:

• Membership: 50 euros per annum
• Day care: 8 euros per day Monday – Friday
• Dog Park: 5 euros per day (owner stays with dog)
• Classes 5 euros per lesson
• Boarding 20 euros per 24 hours or part thereof

Hi Everyone, I hope you all had a good summer.

First of all, I must apologise for the long delay since our last Newsletter.  Future newsletters will be sent out every 3 months to keep you all up to date with all our exciting new developments.  The first of which is my new TV show “The Pack Leader” which is being aired on Net TV every Thursday from 6^th October 2011 for 13 weeks.

ALL DAY DOG SITTING SERVICE FOR JUST 5 EUROS

It has come to my notice that too many dogs are left home alone all day while their owners have to go out to work.  So with the help of my new assistant Dawn I have decided to offer a service to members where they can leave their dogs from 07.30 a.m. until 5.30 p.m** for just 5 euros per day*.   This is just 50c per hour!!  Don’t leave your dogs alone bring them to Pelhams Doggy Day Care where they can play and have the exercise they need.

*minimum of 3 days per week – 1 day 10 euros. 

**Pickups after 5.30 p.m. extra 5 euros.

NEW OPENING HOURS

From Monday 10^th October I will be open every day from 7.30 a.m.

KIOSK OPENING SOON

The Food kiosk will be opening shortly where we will be able to offer hot and cold beverages, toasted sandwiches, burgers, chips and various other snacks.  Those of you that were attending last winter will be pleased to hear our tasty barbeque burgers will also be back!

CHARITY EVENTS

• The Animal Welfare in Ta Qali is celebrating its 1^st anniversary on Sunday 9^th October with a Fun Day and I am doing a demonstration class to show the public what Pelhams is all about.  Please come along and show your support.
• I am organising a charity event for Christmas in order to be able to donate food to the various dog sanctuaries on the island.  Please come along and put your name down if you are interested.

TRAINING CLASSES:

I am starting the next round of classes from the end of this month.  Please come along to sign up as soon as possible.  Classes will take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings as before.

My Agility classes proved to be extremely popular last time around, again if you are interested come and sign up asap.

I am also thinking about starting specialized classes in whistle work.  Please let me know if you are interested – maximum 8 dogs.

IMPORTANT POINTS

• When you bring your dog to the park please make sure you pick up your dog’s poo.
• Don’t forget to worm your dogs regularly.

Hello again everyone, 2011 has got off to a very good start for Pelhams with new members joining all the time – thank you very much for your recommendations.

The latest round of obedience classes are now half way through and I would like to congratulate you all on your hard work.  I can really notice those who have obviously been practicing at home and can see real improvements in our long term members.

I haven’t started  the Agility Classes yet as I need a few more people (and their dogs of course) so these will probably start with the next round of obedience classes that begin at the end of April.  Don’t forget to start signing up for these asap

If you have a membership number between 1 and 172 and haven‘t yet renewed your membership can you please do so by the end of the month.  Membership for the next year is 30 euros.  Entrance and class fees remain the same at 5 euros per dog.

Gold Memberships are also now available at a price of 250 euros for 1 year (150 euros for six months).  This then entitles you to unlimited visits to the dog park (classes not included).  Members who have recently joined and wish to upgrade to this service can do so, we will just deduct the membership you have already paid.

We now have our first sponsor for the Agility Obstacles.  Michele has bagged obstacle number 8 for her hand painted dog bowls – take a look, they make very nice presents.

If you have a company or know anyone who might be interested in sponsoring one of the obstacles the price of each 50cm x 50cm sign will be 50 euros for the year + the price of the sign.  The signs can either show the name of the company or person with their dogs etc. and will be attached to each obstacle. I would still like to get some more banners up around the perimeter wall and on the dog pool to brighten the place up a bit.  The banners are approximately    3 m x 2 m.  If you know anyone who might be interested in advertising please let me know.

You may have noticed we have a new sponsor for dog food, treats etc., more information will be available next month.

Boarding is once again extremely busy so if you are going away and need to use this service please book as early as possible especially now that we are getting nearer to the summer and people are booking their holidays. The price of this service is 20 euros per day with drop off and pick up days counted as 1 full day.  Owners to supply their own dog food beds etc.

Thanks once again to all our Saturday and Sunday afternoon regulars, and thanks to those who have donated jars of coffee.

We now have freshly made barbecued burgers, hot dogs and chips on sale at weekends as well as hot and cold drinks.

If you have a catering business or bar or know anyone who does and would like to sponsor some umbrellas for Pelhams’ use during the summer please get in touch.

Can I ask all members to make sure they clean up after their dogs especially during classes as this makes a more pleasant environment for everyone.

I am planning to hold another  BBQ in mid-June after the last round of obedience classes have finished before it gets too hot.

I will be extending the opening hours until 6 p.m. from 1^st April but these will, of course, be subject to further change in the summer.

Finally, the radio which I use at the school is a DAB radio supplied by Sergio (Ruby), one of our Gold Members. These radios are able to broadcast stations from England and other countries around the world with crystal clear reception.  If anyone is interested in acquiring one speak to me.

NEWSLETTER NO. 10

DECEMBER 2010

Hello again everyone,

I would like to start off this newsletter by thanking everyone for their kind words and messages of condolences after the sad loss of my father.  This was much appreciated and very comforting.  Many thanks to Leo (Principessa & Spoc) who helped April out with the boarding dogs when I  had to leave suddenly for the UK.

I, in turn, would like to offer my condolences to Arthur from the Terrazza Restaurant, Spinola Bay (Alfie & Bobby) who also lost his father on 17^th November, our thoughts are with him.

Condolences also to Keith who sadly lost his dog Hope in a traffic accident earlier this month.

Now, on a happier note.

** MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE **

So we have reached the end of our first year at Pelhams and I think you will agree it has been a successful one.  I hope you have all enjoyed the experience as much as we have.

Christmas opening times are as follows:

Monday 20^th & Tuesday 21^st December                              Closed

Wednesday 22^nd Thursday 23^rd and Friday 24^th December    10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday 25^th and Sunday 26^th December Closed

Monday 27^th – Friday 31^st December                         10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday 1^st – Tuesday 4^th January                                    Closed

Normal service resumes Wednesday 5^th January  ie closed every Monday and Tuesday and open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.

The next round of obedience classes will be starting from 5^th February.  We have two classes on Saturdays and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. and one on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.  If you haven’t already put your names down please do so as soon as possible as these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

I am also thinking about starting an Agility Class as a few people have asked me so if you think your dog is up for that let me know.  I need about 8 dogs so as soon as we have enough we can get started.

From the beginning of February I am going to restart the Agility Course Race.  I sure some of you remember we had quite a bit of fun with that last year with prizes for the fastest times.

Accordingly we have decided to offer a Gold Membership for 250 euros per year (or 150 euros for six months) which will include as many visits to the dog park as you like including use of the dog pool.

Members who have recently joined who may wish to upgrade to this service can do so, we will just deduct the membership you have already paid.

We will be writing to each member as their membership comes up for renewal in the New Year, or just come along to school if you know your membership is running out.

Finally, members Danny and Linda have a Spanish Boxer that they want to breed with a female dog of the same breed.  If you are interested please contact me for detail.

Accordingly Luke will be taking the classes on Saturday and Sunday on his behalf and I will open the park in the afternoons,

NEWSLETTER NO. 9

SEPTEMBER 2010

Hello again everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your summer holidays and are ready to get your dogs back into shape.

I have attached the schedule for the next round of dog obedience classes to this newsletter so please have a look and check which class you are in. If you cannot make classes please let me know so that I can offer your place to someone else.

As before the classes will be 5 euros per week for 6 weeks payable in advance (total 30 euros). Please come along and pay ASAP to secure your place as you know the classes have proved very popular and I am trying to keep the numbers down in each class. Places that have not been secured by 9th October will be offered to someone else.

Please make sure that you are on time for your classes as I will be starting promptly at the allocated time as I have a lot of classes to fit in. There will be a kiosk selling cakes, sandwiches burgers etc. with tables and chairs by the office. Can you please wait there with our dog on lead until you are called.

Again, please make sure that one gate is closed before the second gate is opened as we will be getting quite congested at that time and we don’t want any escapees. Also can I please ask everyone to clean up after your dogs, thank you.

Those attending classes please make sure that you practice at least 10 – 15 minutes every day; you cannot expect your dog to become fully trained in one hour per week. I am training you to train your dog!!!

REMEMBER – your dog needs exercise please bring him to the park at least once a week to run around and socialise. If you cannot bring him yourself we can organise a pick up and drop off for you.

From now until 8th October we are open from

• 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday – Friday and
• 4 – 8 p.m. at weekends when we will have the kiosk available for refreshments.

As from Wednesday 13th October we will resume winter hours which will be as follows:-

• Monday & Tuesday – closed.
• Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
• Saturday & Sunday – classes from 9 – 1.30 – Dog Park open from 2 p.m.

Last but not least, our End of Summer BBQ is on Saturday 9th October. Doors are open from 3 p.m. (Dog Park free) and food will be served from 6 p.m. There will be starters, main course and dessert, a disco, bar area, seating and lighting.

Tickets are on sale from the office €15.00 for adults and €10 for children under 12. Under 5,’s go free.

Please come along and support us, we are hoping to have a lot of fun. Those who attended the Pig Roast will remember it was a great success and this time we are hoping to do even better.

If anyone would like to donate raffle prizes please let me know as this was also a great success last time around.
